Shabe Yalda

 SHAB-E YALDA

The UCLA Iranian Student Group annually hosts a vibrant celebration of Shab-e Yalda, the cherished Persian Winter Solstice festival. This event honors the longest night of the year, a significant cultural milestone steeped in tradition. Our gathering features an array of festivities, including the recitation of classical poetry, live music performances, and the sharing of traditional foods like pomegranates and nuts. These elements symbolize the sun's rebirth and the triumph of light over darkness. Our Shab-e Yalda celebration not only brings our community together but also serves as a bridge connecting us to our rich cultural heritage, as we rejoice in the warmth and joy of this ancient festival.

This video showcases the Shab-e Yalda celebration hosted by UCLA in 2007, offering viewers a glimpse into the vibrant and culturally rich event.
